Welcome to the Ferguson Fawsitt Arms set in the picturesque village of Walkington we are just three miles from Beverley with its wonderful Minster traditional Market Square and shops. With Beverley racecourse just over 1 mile away, York and the East Coast towns of Hornsea, Bridlington and Scarborough nearby, there is plenty to see and do in the area. The Ferguson Fawsitt was named after two important local families. The original license at the Ferguson Fawsitt was granted in 1866 when J.D. Ferguson brother of the rector, married wealthy heiress Miss. Eliza Fawsitt. The original name of the pub was The Bay Horse and the area now known, as the Cocktail Bar was originally the village blacksmiths shop, which was in use until 1950. The Carvery area was the area the blacksmiths used to repair carriage wheels and shoe the horses. Whatever the occasion or event, join us at the Fergie for first class food, warm friendly service and excellent facilities. The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms offers a superb carvery serving a variety of hot and cold food freshly prepared and cooked on the premises. A bar food menu is also available. The Function Suite is an excellent venue for weddings and parties and can accommodate up to 80 guests for formal dining and 140 for the evening with entertainment and buffet if desired. Accommodation the Lodge with en suite bedroom accommodation offers Wi-Fi Internet connection, freeview TV and breakfast. Our Function Room can seat up to 80 guests for a Formal Function and up to 120 guests for an evening reception. The Function Room has its own bar facilities. We hold a variety of special events throughout the year, the most exciting being our special Christmas dinner dances during December. Meet at 7.30pm and enjoy a drink in the lounge, then proceed through to the Function Suite for your three course carvery meal, finishing off with dancing until 12.30am with our resident DJ. New Years Eve is also a special event with sumptuous food, live entertainment and dancing until 2am. Monday to Saturday 12 noon to 2pm and 6pm to 9pm (9.30pm Fri / Sat) Sunday All day 12noon to 9pm We have a selection of one or more of the following joints available every day and on Sunday all the joints are normally served. Prime topside of British Beef, Roast leg Lamb, Roast Pork, Roast Turkey, Honey Roast Ham Also available from the Carvery are a selection of 10 to 12 other homemade dishes including such dishes as;- Pork in Apple and Cider, Poached Salmon in Crayfish Sauce, Steak Pie, Chicken Chasseur, Beef Fedora We also offers at least 2 vegetarian dishes alongside our large selection of salads. A large selection of homemade desserts is always available from the servery, as well as a good selection of hot beverages. We are proud to have retained all of the original rooms some of which date back to 1886 when the original license was first granted at the Ferguson Fawsitt Arms. Relax with friends or family and enjoy one of our real ales, a large selection of beers and lagers, or perhaps a glass of one of our 11 different house wines always in stock. Alternatively, why not enjoy a bottle of wine from our fine wine list. Meals can be eaten in the Lounge, the Cocktail bar, the Carvery Room or the Old Bar with its original hand-carved wood panels and open fire. As well as serving any of the meals from the Carvery we also offer a cook to order menu Tuesday through to Friday with a good selection of starters and main courses. A suitable childrens menu is available and small portions of the Carvery dishes are served throughout the week. Each of our lounges are available for private parties. Corporate Functions or larger events can be catered for in our Function Suite. The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms offers a variety of catering options from a formal sit down meal to a finger buffet, traditional buffets or canapas. Our staff are highly trained and we can design a menu to suit most tastes. The Function suite is designed to be sectioned off giving you your own private bar and lounge facilities whilst dining in a fantastic setting with great food. This takes the stress out of entertaining at home, and leaves you as the host, free to enjoy your special evening. This option is available for parties from 10 guests up to 40.
