Detailed Information

Cosy and welcoming pub with three distinct drinking areas including a small snug. Log fires and lively conversation add to the atmosphere, and there is some decking with large umbrellas for smokers outside as well as tables in the garden. Down steps from the patio area and round a corner at the bottom is a children’s play area. There is a bank of four pumps on the bar in front of you as you enter and another couple round the side to the left after the fish tank. There are normally four guest beers. One is usually local, Pilgrim, Surrey Hills and Tonbridge being the most common, and the others may be from other small breweries or may be well known national names. Food is sourced locally where possible and is served from 12-2;30 and 6;30-9;30 Monday to Saturday and 12-3;30 Sunday. Although food is a feature this is also a drinker’s pub which welcomes locals and visitors including cyclists, ramblers and families, and various clubs meet here. Dogs on a lead are very welcome and there is free WiFi. Monthly events are usually food based and the pub usually holds beer festivals twice a year, at the start and end of the summer. Most months there is a music event. It was once owned by the Youell & Elkin brewery of Horley. There is a disabled toilet but the front door has a very small step down.
