This 300-year-old local is the only true free house in a village of good pubs. Situated on the northern outskirts, it is hard to find but well worth the effort. Conversation abounds in the single L-shaped, half-panelled bar. There is a suntrap garden to the side, with a covered and heated smoking area. Up to three guest beers come from mainly Hampshire and Sussex micros, often from Suthwyk Brewery (brewed by Oakleaf), as well as Timothy Taylor Landlord.
