The Crook and Shears is a traditional 17th Century establishment – and the main part of it is a Grade II Listed Building.Local historians think the pub was a farmhouse before it was converted into the heart of the community that it now is over a century ago.It has been extended and refurbished over the years to add extra amenities – and now incorporates a dining area and kitchen facilities.During one refurbishment in the 1980s, the then landlord discovered an open hearth and remains of a bread oven dating back to the original construction of the building. Here is a photo of the Crook and Shears from nearly 100 years ago. As you can see, not much has changed as its custodians over the years have looked after it well! The Crook and Shears in 1913The age of the inn, with its classic thatched roof and low wooden beams, gives it an unrivalled character without equal in the local area.
