THE GEORGE INN – Believed to have been built around the 18th century as local documentation states an extension to the roadside of the building was added circa 1850. This traditional country inn is just 5 minutes off the M20 from junction 8 and is situated in a truly English village that holds a close association with the loveliest castle in the world – Leeds Castle. The George makes an ideal base for keen walkers and is listed in Country Walk guides as offering a warm welcome and good pub food ranging from snacks to the full blown Sunday Roast lunch. Much of the produce from the daily menu is sourced locally, and most of the suppliers are also local – meat from butchers at Tenterden and pies made locally at Biddenden. The hosts – Jenny and Geoff – local people themselves, have already refurbished the dining room, bar areas and kitchen and will be adding a garden patio to the rear of the pub. This will have heating and lighting to add to the ambience of eating Al Fresco and enable customers to enjoy the much anticipated long warm summer evenings supping a cool lager or ice cool gin and tonic. Food is available Mon to Sat 12 to 3pm and then 6pm to 9pm with ploughman’s and sandwiches available in between) and on Sundays 12 midday to 7.30pm (9.00pm in the summer). Coach parties can be catered for by appointment and if you have limited time to eat at lunchtime – call us with your order so it is ready to as soon as you arrive . Celebrate those special occasions without breaking the bank by holding family gatherings at The George and let the preparation and worry be done by those that will care as much as they can and try to make your day a successful one. There are many interests supported by The George; 2 local village cricket teams and a regular monthly quiz held on the 1st Tues of every month to name but a few. Christmas & New Year is an especially great time when every effort is made to show the local and loyal customers how their business is appreciated. Families are welcome as are well behaved family dogs…(the occasional horse has also been known to graze on the garden too!)We now have an extended garden because we have taken the trees down and are about to topsoil and sow grass on the new area. We have broadband for our business customers who may want to hold meetings – its more reliable than the wireless!
