A traditional village pub set in the riverside village of Bourne End, The Spade Oak is a couple of minutes drive from Marlow and Cookham and just a stone’s throw from the Henley to Windsor section of the Thames Path. We are very popular with visitors, either walking or taking boat trips on the River Thames. The Spade Oak started out as Spade Oak farm, and only became a hotel after WW1 when Muriel Maud Joycey, an ex-Gaiety girl, bought it. She turned it into a country hotel with a swimming pool, ballroom and a children’s boating pond with pedal boats. We are proud of our pub and believe that it is one of the best real ale and food pubs in Buckinghamshire.
