A 17th century coaching house by the old crossing of the River Severn. The river bridge is Grade II Listed and is on the old A5 road from London to Holyhead, and was built by Thomas Telford. This is a family owned pub and is quite large and is popular. There is a well used public bar with a fireplace, TV, pool table and goldfish tank, together with a small lounge. But food is also important. Thus there is a separate dining area together with a large dining room to the rear of the building. The pub is situated next to a separately run large camping site and this may be why there’s a children’s play area, overlooked by a patio. Undoubtedly, campers from the site, together with fishermen using the pub’s own fishing rights on the river nearby, make full use of its facilities. New ownership from February 2017 so there could well be some gradual changes (as at February 2017)
