Named after a locally built class of vessel, and situated on the corner of Dibden Road which used to be called Foresters Opening.Earliest mention of this pub can be found in the title deeds of 1858. The first landlord and carpenter by trade, William Henry Hayman first gained a full licence on 26 September 1861, but was probably operating as a beer-house before this event.
