The Black Bull Inn
Detailed Information

The Black Bull Inn has undergone quite a significant change recently.New owners, the local Stuart Family, have seen the potential within this historic building and have quickly gone about a renovation job which has transformed this once quiet, unassuming pub into a hive of activity and friendly banter. With Darts, Pool, Quizzes, Live Music, Sky Sports & ESPN, there is barely a night goes by when the Bull isn\’t thriving. Have a look around the site to see our extensive varitey of drinks and entertainment. The Black Bull Inn can lay claim to being one of the oldest drinking establishments in Inverurie. Finding its roots as a Drovers Inn, the first records of the Inn we can find are from when the Christie family first took on the pub. Isabella Christie was the first to welcome in cattle farmers into the Inn where they stayed whilst the market was held in the Market Green, which is still located across the road from the Bull – though it is no longer used as a market place. A large area of the North Street area was once owned by the Christie family, but it was the Black Bull which lasted in the family the longest, over 150 years. In 2007, Raymond and Kathleen Christie were to sell the pub to the Stuart family. It was a sad time for the Christies but they found solace in the fact that another family was taking the place over and were keen to keep the traditional pub feeling going. Renovations in the two years have included an open plan look to replace the separate lounge and bar. Now customers can sit in the comfortable lounge and still feel a part of the traditional pub atmosphere provided by the original oak and redwood canopy and counter. The bar area itself has seen little change, with the family wanting to keep the cosy feel and character. The open fire is a warm and welcoming site in the winter months and the added beer garden gives a chance for a cool pint in the summer days. With a wee bit still left to do you can be rest assured that the pub is by no means finished but with the fabulously renovated toilets and the addition of a pool area and extended space, the pub is taking strides forward, whilst keeping one foot in the past to give that wee nostialgic feeling for our much appreciated regulars who have stuck with us through the time of transition.
