“Now stir the fire, and close the shutters fastLet fall the curtains, wheel the sofa round… So let us welcome peaceful evening in.” – William CowperOur Grade II listed Georgian building is bursting with character and if famous local William Cowper was still penning poems today, we’re pretty sure he would be regularly found propped up at our bar sipping a pint of Pedigree. We’re a village pub. Not a bar, not a restaurant, not even a gastropub, whatever that is. Just a great village pub – a cosy place where you’ll find roaring log fires, creeping purple wisteria around the lattice windows, muddy boots at the door, and local food cooked from scratch by the very brilliant Russell. We welcome dogs (even muddy ones) and usually have a biscuit on hand to make them lifelong friends. And assuming it’s not a boozy party night, we love seeing our pub being enjoyed by babies and children. We’ve got some games to keep them occupied, a playground in our garden and a kid’s menu they’ll devour.
