The Lord Nelson is a classic unspoilt back street local close to Brighton railway station but just off the tourist tracks. There are two small and comfy saloon bars to settle in away from the hustle and bustle of this cosmopolitan resort. The \\\’back bar\\\’ area is an ideal meeting place for larger groups and is available for functions. There is a conservatory for those sunny days and a log fire for those colder days. This pub is particularly sought out by the businessman and woman looking for a pub lunch and pint. A good variety of homemade food. Well worth visiting. Children are welcome as are well-behaved dogs. Harvey’s pub serving real ale, cider, lager and quality new world wines. We now have a patio smoking area at the back of the pub. new Folk Night every first Monday of the month 9pm until close new Free wi-fi at the nelson General Quiz every Tuesday. A dark seasonal drink brewed from October to May. The advent of ‘Old’ is eagerly awaited by its devotees. Reminiscent of the mild ales produced during the early part of this century, it is brewed to an original gravity of 1040° -1044° using a high percentage of crystal malt and black sugars. The result is a soft, full beer with a nutty palate, which has been awarded First Prize at the International Brewers’ Exhibition on three separate occasions. Harvey’s first brewed and bottled Bonfire Boy as a tribute to the emergency services, following the fire in July 1996 which destroyed the brewery shop and offices. Bonfire Boy on draught is now established as part of our \\\”seasonal brews\\\”” and is available every November. As well as providing a continuing tribute to the emergency services the name of the brew and timing of its availability provide a close link with the extensive bonfire celebrations
