The Queens is a family run pub, which has been serving locals and travellers since the 1700’s, when it was a coaching inn. It was originally known as the Village Inn in the Hamlet of Birthwaite, however, the village that grew up around it became Windermere after the railway station opened in 1847. The pub was re-named the Queens after Queen Victoria’s visit to Windermere after her Golden jubilee in 1847. Today, the Queens boasts tonnes of atmosphere, and with friendly staff throughout, this is a great place to enjoy a quiet chat with friends or some time to yourself. We are known for our real ales being Cask Marqued and in the British Real Ale Gide, however, we offer a wide selection of drinks to suit all tastes. If customers fancy a bite to eat a full main menu and children’s menu is available. Whether you’re from the local area or just passing by why not come and join us for a drink at The Queens.
