The Rose and Crown is a traditional pub with suitably traditional values being a long standing \’proper pub\’ at times has been hard, but their regulars have kept meeting here and drinking the quality ales since way back in 1732.
And there’s good reason for them to carry on the \’Dad & Lad\’ passing over ceremony here, with quiet areas to nestle up in or more open bar areas to catch up with the local happenings, the bar has a vibrant community feel. With some regulars passing through the door for over 30+ years.
With friendly smiles from all the staff, there’s nothing better to do than pull up a chair and enjoy some of the marvellous ales on offer, a personal favourite is the Wainwright, a creamy premium ale that goes down very nicely in the homely surroundings reflecting the local area.
Sitting in the lounge on what would normally be a fairly quiet night in any of the other establishments in the area \’The Rose\’ as its affectionately known as is buzzing with long time friends, couples and over the other side of the building the darts team have just won a game, with jubilant cheers.
After enjoying a second sampling of the Thwaites Original I can honestly say it’s been a pleasure to visit such a valuable community hub such as this, and be welcomed as a new face so warmly.
Thanks again to Helen, Val & Anthony for looking after me.
