A traditional village inn
in rural Devon…
Jan and Maria
welcome you to the Talaton Inn, a traditional inn in the heart of the ancient
village of Talaton, Devon. Talaton was mentioned in the Doomsday Book and still
remains a thriving village and community.
The Talaton Inn has
recently been updated with new wooden floors, double burner stove and new
tables and chairs.
So while we have
created more of an open plan interior, we have been sympathetic to the inn’s
origins. Creating a larger space for events while still providing a traditional
village inn atmosphere for a relaxing time out.
Outside is a large
car park and plenty of seating to watch the village go by while you enjoy your
drink and food.
The Talaton Inn is
a free house serving an extensive range of beers, including some excellent
local brews and traditional pub fayre, created by Jan our Chef and prepared
using local produce.
We offer daily
specials, a £5 lunch, an evening set menu, a smaller eater menu, Sunday roasts
– voted the Times Top 5 in Devon, theme nights, takeaways, catering for upto
100 at the pub and an external bar and catering service for local events and
are an important part of village life and the Talaton Inn is home to several
teams, including darts, euchre and skittles. The public bar has a dartboard
area and the skittle alley-cum-function room is available Fridays and
Saturdays. As such, the Talaton Inn plays an active role in village life.
The Talaton Inn can
be found seven miles west of Honiton and four miles north of Ottery St Mary,
close to Escot Gardens, Cadhay
Manor House and Killerton House.
There is plenty to
see in Talaton and from here you can access many walks of varying intensity in
and around the beautiful Devon countryside, so well worth a visit. Please see
page for details of our seasonal opening and food serving times
and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
