The Walnut Tree is a delightful family run pub; it is in the village of Eccles, which is part of the parish of Aylesford Kent. It is the site of a Roman villa estate and pottery kiln excavated between 1962 and 1976. It replaced an Iron Age settlement and was occupied until the end of Roman rule. The name “Eccles†comes from the Latin word “Ecclesia†meaning church, and suggests that a post Roman Christian community existed in the village beyond Roman withdrawal and into Saxon period. Apart from all this history the Walnut Tree is a friendly, relaxing pub with a fantastic atmosphere with Sky Sports, Setanta Sports, Premier Plus and Pay Per View all available to watch throughout the pub on the big screen or on the plasmas throughout the bar, for all customers not looking to watch the big game there is a juke box, pool table and dart bored available.
