Welcome to the Theobald Arms, a friendly and traditional family run local in the riverside area of Grays, Essex, opposite the town wharf. We have 2 bars, in both of which you may sample our renowned real ales and our home cooked food (Monday to Friday), ever popular with local office workers. Our saloon bar is a comfortable tv-free zone, whilst our public bar includes a dartboard together with an unusual rotating hexagonal rotating pool table! Both bars have access to outdoor drinking areas – the public bar leads onto a secluded adults only area. You may have guessed, but we\’re pretty proud of our ales… Mind you, we have good reason – we were the CAMRA South West Essex pub of the year in 2002! On the house ale pump you\’ll find one of three great English ales – Courage Best (4%), Brentwood\’s The Baldy (3.8%, brewed specially for us to recognise the pubs name and our follicley-challenged landlord!) or Mighty Oak\’s Burntwood (4%). These are complemented by 3 other guest ales of varying strengths, with which we try to showcase the independent breweries of Great Britain. You could, of course, take some home with you, in one of our 4 pint flagons. Oh, and just in case these aren\’t enough to tempt you, why not try our range of bottled English ales?
